In this shot, Murphy had to lean way out to the side so that he could see the tennis ball in his mom's hand past me and the camera. Here are a few of Murphy in action with and without his tennis ball:

As you can see she makes some interesting faces.
She was wide awake for most of her session. She only fell asleep at the very end.

I'm not sure exactly why, but this is one of my all-time favourite photos.
As you can see, Skye is a pretty girl.
This shot leaves little doubt that Skye is a city girl now!
Skye LOVES to run!

Yummy!
Surprise!

]]>A few people have has some questions about the gallery wraps that I sell. I had a sample made of my rescue girl Parker and took a few photos so everyone can see how amazing they look. All my gallery wraps are printed and assembled by hand locally. They are assembled and ready to hang. The price for my gallery wraps start at $60 for an 8 x 10 and they are available in a wide range of larger sizes.
As you can see, this type of print has an interesting texture to it that really makes them unique.
The photo is wrapped right around the wooden frame so they look good from almost any angle.
The gallery wraps are fully assembled and ready to hang. All you need is a hook, nail or screw in the wall!
Please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] if you would like a quote or have any other questions
]]>Throughout May and June I will be donating $25-$50 (depending on the chosen package) from every pet session to the animal rescue organization of the client's choosing. Please share this blog with everyone you know. I really want to raise as much money as possible. My end goal is to make this an annual event. Below, if you are interested, you can find out more about Parker's story.
Parker was surrendered to Toronto Animal Services in late 2006 as a stray. She had a very bad respiratory infection and a terrible case of demodectic mange. In fact, it was unclear if she would survive. Fortunately, her foster dad, James Mclean, did not give up on her. Here is a quick shot taken by James soon after he rescued her:
When we first adopted her, she was scared of everything. It was clear that she had a pretty rough life before being rescued. Today, she is a completely different dog. Here are a few shots of my own that show how far she has come:
As you can see, Parker is barely recognizable today. Parker simply would not be alive and a part of my life without the people who dedicate their time and resources to animal rescue organizations. Thus, for the entire month of May and June I will donate $25 of every pet session fee to any animal rescue organization that the client chooses.

I don't think I have ever spent so much time using the clone and heal tools in Photoshop to fix scratches! Remember that if you're looking for product shots for your website or advertising, we offer high quality work at affordable prices.

This lighting diagram shows the basics of the my Easter set. This set uses three of my four studio strobes. One light is behind and to the side of the dogs. This light makes fur shine and emphasizes pug wrinkles.
I took these photos in my dining room (emptied of furniture). This room is quite small at a little under 10' by 10'. These photos show the backdrop and support system. I used a 56" wide roll of seamless paper for this shoot.
As you can see, I stretch the paper out along the floor to achieve the perfect seamless look. This next photo shows the "hair" light. This light makes the fur shine and emphasizes the wrinkles in my pugs.
The last photo shows the other two lights. Both have soft-boxes attached to soften the shadows and create a nice and fluffy light. The lights were really further apart than this, but I moved them closer together to fit them into this shot.
Remember that all of this equipment is portable and can be brought to your house to take amazing pictures of your fur kids or human kids. If you are interested in a studio shoot in your own home, please contact me at www.matthewjosephphotography.ca/contact.html.

Remember to tell your friends about Adrian. He will be up for adoption over at www.pugalug.com in about a month!

I'm not sure where this little guy learned to model, but he sure pulled some interesting poses out of his little bag of tricks:
Here are just a couple more:
In my opinion, no family photo shoot is complete without some shots of the furry kid(s):

As you might be able to tell, this little stuffed chick is just about Gertie's favourite thing in the world.
It was actually more difficult than you might think to get this shot of Gertie. She loves that little toy so much that every time I put it in front of her this happened:
I have to admit, Parker is probably the best dog "model" I have had the chance to work with. When I told her to stay, she would hold the pose for so long that even if I put the camera down to adjust the lights, she would still be right there where I left her when I came back.
]]>
As you can see from these two, Parker seems to feel the need to "stand guard" when she's posing for photos.
How can you help but love rescue dogs? Parker was rescued by Pugalug Pug Rescue (www.pugalug.com).
